Nudged towards Heaven

A man is on his way to the post-office, with his hand on his hand-held device. A stunning beauty in a red dress passes by. He looks up, smiles and keeps going. Fast forward a couple of months, his work requires him to take photos on a high-altitude suspension foot-bridge. With his stress-hormones rushing through his system something in his brain gets activated. The same woman passes by and he musters his will-power and asks her on a date. Six months later they are engaged and the rest is history.

Does this sound like fiction to you? Well, it’s a well-researched psychological study that stress hormones makes guys act more assertively towards the other sex. Will the real self please stand up. Who are we exactly, after we had our coffee, a glass of wine or dependent on who triggers our memories, and what nudges our scent, chemicals and hormones? Like puppets on a string we are led from act to act, believing that we are in control when our conditioning and priming does a lot of the steering.

Should we get a psychology degree trying to disentangle the stimuli from our free will? Fact of the matter is even Dr Freud and Jung were driven by forces they didn’t understand, like their ego to be a cut smarter and more famous than the other guy. Can spirituality help? Can we awaken to the engine that steers us towards our own destiny? Well, it’s a function of your core belief, if you have discovered that there is a benevolent Force nudging us towards Heaven, then sure. We just show up, life does the rest.

Serene, we sit at the center of the circle, and let all the priming and conditioning do their job. We show up, see and serenely conclude, ‘it’s perfect!’
