There are times when we respond to situations
because we feel the essence of the decision at hand,
and then there are times when we react,
simply expressing the weight of the past.
Truth is both are needed,
responding allows us to be fresh,
reacting enables us to see the robot at work,
and allows us to—maybe—break through conditioning.
Truth is that life as it happens is holy.
Truth is, life as is sets us free.
We like to be enlightened. We love it when we can be serene, sensitive, wise in our response. We are sick of karma, or rather its negative aspects, and want to engage only in spiritual action.
The problem statement is the word “want”. It’s not real. This is our mind talking, our super ego. A projected persona cannot respond to life as is. Spiritual breakthroughs require vulnerability and mistakes.
That doesn’t mean that in the name of truth we need to behave like elephants in the China Shop. Let’s be sensitive to the moment as far as we can, but not any further. Then it becomes a mask again.
