Leaving the self behind

I once commented in a spiritual discussion that the end goal of the spiritual quest is dissolving the self to which one commentator wrote that the end of self is the ultimate spiritual by-passing. So, who is right?

When we spot an ugly thought, and we look for its root cause and overcome the negative attitude, we are practicing ethics and spirituality. Same when we spot a loving feeling and we want to stay with it, we do the same. Yet, the observer who comes up with these spiritual classifications is part of the thought process that represents our self identification. In other words, the good and evil that we like to be a master of, is us! Yet, who can say if this inner work really amounts to nothing. It’s a learning process where we try to put our best foot forward and see how the world responds. Nothing wrong with that. It’s just that at one point we have to realize that even the experience of the observer is not real.

Every thought in our head is tainted by self. How now to step out of the self without trying, for that would be by-passing as the commentator rightly observed. The answer lies in S (erenity), E (nergy), L (ove), F (low). We are the silence and love on the inside, and we are one with the energy and the flow on the outside. Body, mind, world are one, and it is our birthright to be part of that Oneness without the self getting in the Way. How to get there exactly? You will. Your spiritual approach may be tainted, but what you are looking for is looking for you. A magnet of infinite strength is sucking you on, all you have to do is to keep going.
