Teatime with the demon

There is expressing destructive energy, by watching a violent movie, by playing video games, by imagining how to harm an opponent, by watching porn or engaging in mindless sexual acts. There is the act of undermining an adversary, by gossiping, by sabotaging someone; there is an endless list.

There is the opportunity to sit quietly and watch the storm, engage with it yet remain in the center of it where the sun shines. We all have been expressing destructive energy, yet the act of offering tea to a demon who comes for visit without inviting him to stay overnight is something new.

Don’t just say, “I must conquer the demon just like Buddha or Jesus did”, is the way forward. Don’t you see that the institution who musters the will to do good is the same institution that creates the demon? The demon may be the honest party in the merry-go-round because we don’t acknowledge the wound.

There is so much wisdom in sitting with a pain body. “What do you have to tell me? What part of your pain have I neglected thus far. Please tell me!” We share a joint mission to put our cards on the table. I do not intend to throw you out afterwards. I intend to lose you as you help dissolving me. Have another cup!
