The Journey Home

The Tao is a homecoming journey. To what exactly only those who have finished the journey can tell you and few of them are around. So you have to find out for yourself what walking the Way is all about.

The Tao is a journey of healing, of undoing all the cuts from the past. Do not regret these little injuries, do not blame those who inflicted them. They made you the person you were born to be. You couldn't have reached this point of departure if it weren't for them.

Life is a web that pulls you up. You thought that it could pull you down. I can but only if you believe that it can. The Tao is here to teach you otherwise. Everyone you meet in fact cheers you on. Where you saw enemies before you only saw ghosts of your own making. No one has the power to hurt you, only you can.

Start your journey back to the Source today. Many paths lead you there, ours is that of the Tao. Along the Way everyone roots for you because you make it your premise. Enjoy the healing, the fun, the laughter and the boundless love.

Stop thinking about your final destination. By traveling the Tao you are already there. Many have seen that divine connection. Moses discovered I Am when he saw the burning bush, Arjun discovered the Way on the battlefield in the Bhagavad Gita. King David's Psalm 23 describes the magnificent web of life. Be part of it and be Home already.

Closing the Circle

A friend said to me 'Why don't you guys get a life coach?' when I told her that my wife and I were really buried these days by the demands from work, home and parenthood. I had to laugh because that weekend I had contemplated how to design the business cards displaying my next career as a spiritual writer. Should it be Author, Life Coach or Author, Spiritual Coach instead? Well, it is very simple really. A life coach helps you to accomplish what you want to get out of life, while a spiritual coach helps you on your journey home.

Actually, a Tao traveler would point out that the expression 'life coach' is an oxymoron for everyone who has the desire to come home: life coaches you already, all a Tao master would tell you is to keep your eyes wide open, listen to everyone and keep an open mind about everything, and stand ready to be coached moment by moment.

So if you still have a mission, have something to accomplish, you have to be ready to battle with life. Getting a life coach might be a good idea to get a little further ahead or to avoid some pain in the process. Having both feet in life is spiritual too; there is only one way to overcome desires and that is by outgrowing them. You can't yet close the circle just because you still have to make it bigger. Perhaps the job of the spiritual coach could be to help with that soul searching process. There are spiritual seekers who after a long period of drifting realize that they still have a job to do in the real life just as there are driven people who suddenly realize that they have outgrown their desires and happily start the journey home. Otherwise I don't think a spiritual coach has to do much, at least not if she is a Taoist like me. We strongly believe that there is not a better spiritual coach than life itself. Observe the signs that come your way and close the circle for once and for all.

On Creativity

'It seems that, in some way, each person has to discover what it means to be original and creative. After all, the child like quality of fresh, wholehearted interest is not in any of us. It comes in a small burst, and then it gets lost in confusion as the old special interests, fears, desires, aims, securities, pleasures, and pains come up from the past.
(David Bohm)

I have a weird hobby, I study license plate numbers of cars that pass by for little messages from the Source. Today I saw 'U' which I took as a message for me and when I calculated the number ( in numerology you add numbers until you get a single digit) I came up with 8, which happens to be my birth number. I thought that this message was disappointingly obvious and when I drove by the next car, I saw 'ME', which I took for God, the Tao, or however else you want to call this Force we are interacting with. When I calculated the number on this license plate I came up with 2, which is a symbol of love. Yes, I thought to myself, me (8) and God's love (2) add to the number of the day, which happens to be 1. (10=1=3+29+2012) God's love also make me the Son of God which is represented by 1 as well.

You may read this and think that at best I am delusional and at worst insane, and I don't mind that at all. What I would point out, however, is that I get an unbelievable number of little gems delivered this way to the point that the odds of my reading meaning into randomness are 0 rounded up. Try to find your own idiosyncratic way of communicating with the Tao. When you do, a new world of creativity will open up, and this communication will be as difficult or as easy as you like it to be. Sometimes I think that is how childhood must feel like, infinite fun and infinite connectedness. Just look out for it, you can't miss it.
