Either we are part of the Oneness, or we think we are not

“Seeking” non-dual wisdom makes “finding” it impossible since seeking creates a paradox where we’re looking for what’s already the case. I’ve seen hundreds of people make this mistake, including me.

Pointing directly, freedom is intuitively understanding that there’s no such thing as freedom and bondage. We can’t get to where we are by trying to be somewhere else. “Here” is always here, and that’s true for all things.

So, I finally let go of all the goal-orientated systems that turn non-dual wisdom into something to attain. Ultimately, everything is hilarious and humbling, and there’s nothing to do but be in on the joke.

John Pendall

The practice of non-duality makes sense if viewed as a process to take the fragmented mind out of commission moment by moment. Yet, as John points out, if it is taught as a philosophy, a state of being, it makes very little sense. We are either part of Oneness or we are not. Studying how to be one makes no sense at all.

Imagine we are part of a dimensional piece of paper, and someone put a three-dimensional cube on it. Viewed from our perspective, all we can see is a square. We awakened folks have been part of both perspectives, from the cube’s perspective, the paper is “bondage”, while from the paper’s perspective, the cube is “freedom”. Meanwhile, the fourth dimension awaits, as does the fifth, and so forth. I quite like John’s conclusion, “Ultimately, everything is hilarious and humbling, and there’s nothing to do but be in on the joke.”
