Jumping off the merry-go-round

In the usual game of hide & seek

One seeks, the other hides

In the spiritual game of hide & seek

The one who seeks IS THE ONE THAT HIDES.

(Vinod Mittal, Hide & Seek)

This world we see is not independent of body and mind. It’s a joint creation. That which is behind matter (The One That Hides in Vinod Mittal’s hide and seek insight) definitely shines through and we have the eyes, hart and mind to notice. Yet, on cloudy days all we can see is ourselves and a world of our own making. What to do if the self is destined to miss The One That Hides? We look within and without and spot the interference as well as the Light.

It’s a merry-go-round game though, because we can never completely separate the self-generated interference from the self-less Light. Eventually even the spiritual journey of discrimination gets boring. The 19th century sage Sri Ramakrishna used to say that the Holy Mother works happily in the kitchen as long as the children are playing but keeps running the moment we throw down the toys and wail for attention. Are you ready to jump off?
