Mindfulness—don’t jump on the train of thought

You need not stop thinking. Just cease being interested.

It is disinterestedness that liberates. Don't hold on, that is all.

Nisargadatta Maharaj

The thought-feeling energy that pops to the surface and gets our attention is not the problem, our belief in it is. It is the insight that takes the belief out of the thought-feeling energy. Once understood it is a mere blast from the past—or the anticipated future—that comes and goes because we have no interest in jumping on the train.

We could say that we develop an interest in the life-current instead of the “story of me,” but what truly happens is that the life-current takes over. There is simply an inner stillness, a contentment, that prevents us from jumping on any irrelevant thought-feeling energy train. With love in the now, the past and the future become pointless.
