Enjoy the Creative Age

Creativity and Imagination shall be the Stability of Thy Times.
(Quote at the Lego Store in New York)

Have you swung with Sia from the Chandelier? Have you shaken it with Taylor Swift or have you banged banged all over someone with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj? Something is changing these days. You can feel it in the air. It is more than just having good sex. It is a feeling of letting go, of uniting passions, Spirit and living.

The Creative Society is completely new and it is coming out of nowhere. Sure, the 70s were also about letting go after the repressed 50s and early 60s, just as the roaring 20s were a consequence of the stuffed up Victorian times. But these were just counter-reactions that fizzled over time; the Creative Age is wo(man)'s epoch of breaking free. It is crazy at times, often irrationally exuberant but it is a true process of spiritual awakening. Creativity, art and Spirit go hand in hand. You can't have the one without the other.

Sure, the ego will come and try to capture it. I have seen parents help their children found Indian dancing schools with the motive of getting them into MIT or Harvard. But they told everyone about it with so much glee and pride that soon all Ivy Schools will be showered with applicants who claim similar artistic initiatives. True art, genuine spirituality and a passion for creation cannot be faked. It can only be lived.

Economies and societies are changing. The top programmers at Google, Apple and Facebook can no longer be lured with money alone. Creative, artistic and life expressions are as much part of it. And it is not only the smartest of us who get the prestigious job. I presume that we will reprogram our value systems in coming decades and will reevaluate the jobs of nurses, teachers, artisans, artists, stylists, entertainers, et cetera. In short, everyone who interacts with others will find that only spirituality gets you connectedness, economic security and happiness; everything else will be outsourced to robots and computers.

Enjoy the Creative Age!

On Spiritual Blogging

I remember a night in May of 2007, the children were already asleep and I was looking for something in the basement. The lyrics of a favorite song were going through my head and it suddenly occurred to me that Tim McGraw's song "Live Like You are Dying" is really about the mid-life crisis; the observation that there is a stage when we want to give  our life a new direction and new spiritual meaning. As I had the insight I thought that I could share it with others. Around that time a colleague of mine had mentioned "blogging", an expression that I had heard for the first time. So I sat down, followed google's easy instruction to get started and after half an hour I had created my first blog. It had the intention to write a note at least once every month and I actually managed to keep that commitment in the following years. Later, I aimed for one note each week, while in the meantime, we publish a note about every other day.

Today is a special day for the blog ZeitgeistinMA: this is the 1000th note, and with an overall viewership well in excess of 20 000, every note seems to have reached on average 20 people. Isn't that amazing? Well, thanks for your interest and thanks to my co-author Su Zhen who has added amazing spiritual insights since joining this effort about a year ago.  I have no idea what the future of blogging is or whether by now new mediums are gaining traction. All I know is that you too have a message that needs to be heard and needs to be shared. Your medium of communication is waiting for you, as are your viewers, listeners and friends. "Zeitgeist" is German and stands for "spirit of our time". So I encourage you to use the little spark we are providing and turn it into a blazing light for others. "Leben is Weitergeben" is my mother's favorite quote - Living is giving! Try to make this motto your own and experience the magic of sharing for yourself. It is a lot of fun and full of meaning.

The Wheel Keeps Spinning, But You Don't

Every day Google picks a new image for its browser and today's one really spoke to me. It shows all the planets of our solar system and how they spin around the sun. Did you know that your life tracks these planetary motions perfectly? I remember the time when I suddenly recognized patterns at work, some were ten year patterns, while others happened more frequent. It is as if people play out subconscious programs and these events follow our planetary movements like clock-work. You don't need to get depressed when you read this. You very much have a chance stepping out of it. When your intention is healing, all that these patterns can do is to give you another opportunity to undo the missteps of the past.

A spiritual path traveler is perfectly protected. This is impossible to understand unless you are a traveler yourself, and even then, the wisdom of this statement might only begin to dawn on you. You are perfectly protected for even though the wheel will keep spinning, you will be a bystander, reaffirming motions on occasions that have to take place anyway. You heal life with your presence, and as you do, you understand that this is your spiritual mission and always has been. Along your path you are no longer in the way of things because your soul siblings direct traffic and you are just reacting to their advice. You are perfectly protected as long as you listen to every voice and when you understand and react to every symbol that comes your way. Sure, it is a journey to become this master of life, but you know what, you have sign posts that every child can read: choose love no matter what.
