Your Journey

God in Neale Walsch's 'Conversations with God' often responded when asked about "right" and "wrong" that the answer very much depends on where exactly you want to go. "If you want to go south", He said, "it makes little sense to drive north". Doesn't that sum up our spiritual journey perfectly?

If you feel you have to express something, be on the move. That's your mission. Where to exactly, that is entirely of your own choosing. Listen carefully to the brothers and sisters you meet along the way for they often hold the key for the next door that is yours to open. Listen carefully to the voice you hear inside as well. Sometimes it holds wisdom that no one else has. Understand too that traveling south sometimes require you to go north to catch up with the most efficient connection,

Traveling towards something you have to because we all have a job to do. After you travel to your desired destination you will start the well-deserved journey Home. You will naturally know when your job here is done here. The journey Home has no particular destination and time requirements. You could be strolling along a park, looking at the beautiful flowers in front of you and realizing that you are already here, and as a matter of fact, always have been.

Follow Your Dreams

Your biggest satisfaction comes from going after your dreams. You derive it from facing everything that life throws at you and from having fun no matter what. Only you know what your mission might be. Could it be climbing the ranks in a big, successful company? Could it be the satisfaction of being your own entrepreneur, or raising and guiding your children as a stay-home parent? You start with a vision, but you are flexible enough to let life have a say in this journey too. You probably face challenges getting your dreams materialized as we all do, but it may already dawn on you that despite these interferences it is in fact the journey that provides the joy, while the aspired destination will just be an important milestone along the way.

All the stress and irritation about potential problems comes from the fear that someone or something may prevent you from reaching your destination. But what if you realize that life guides you in fact to get what you truly need? What if you figure out along the way that every obstacle gives you the opportunity to aim even higher? From that moment on you will happily embrace all challenges as you start enjoying the climb instead. You realize that it is the journey that gives you the satisfaction, the feeling of accomplishment, the joy and the skills.

The veil you had seen before was entirely of your own making. By living in the future you in fact failed to perceive the now. By fearing problems of the past could interfere again, you failed to grasp opportunities that presented themselves today. Once you connect with the holy now – the access to the creative life force named Tao – the veil will drop and a beautiful scenery will show up instead. Follow your dreams - they will provide you with a ride of a life-time.

Appreciate the Spiritual Journey

I have a friend who is Zen. She wonders right now whether to quit her job or not in order to live a more peaceful life and get more in touch with her beautiful spiritual nature. This may be the perfect choice for her, but it certainly wouldn't work for me. I am the opposite. I certainly have my Zen moments and my spiritual insights that I enjoy sharing with you, but I only get them along the way towards my spiritual core. A fire is burning inside of me and if it wasn't for my demanding job as an investment strategist, the challenges of raising two young boys, my physical sport outlets and my hobby as a spiritual writer, this energy would likely become restless pretty fast.

It would be nice to be enlightened, wouldn't it? You probably have read books like I have of those who seemed to gave reached that stage. You can feel the peace and you can appreciate the wisdom and while you certainly feel connected when you hear their message, you unfortunately soon discover that nothing really has changed in your real life. You return to the same restlessness, the same irritations and the struggles. Try to find the solutions to your problems in your real life instead. Square the circle, it is possible. For every challenge there is a creative outlet that defines you.  Arjun found Lord Krishna and peace on the battle field in the Bhagavad Gita; you can do the same. Appreciate your spiritual journey, it is as simple as that.
